JEVGENI
ONEGIN
The play follows the story about 19th century literature circle
meeting, where people discuss their favourite book, which will grow into
a tragical love story of Tatjana and Jevgeni. The ironical and witty
narration is contrast to the poetical love of two young persons. By
genre the play is best defined as light drama.

Six actors are on the stage performing the verse novel Jevgeni Onegin
written by Alexander Pushkin. It is an playful theatre performance where
actors one by one try to interprete the classical text, looking for new
correlations and theatrical solutions. Actors on the stage read the same
books but everyone understands them personally, in his own way, as it is
in life — everyone looks like living the same life, but it is different
for each living creature. There is no criterion that this is the right
way and no other, the same applies to the interpretation of books, let
it be Jevgeni Onegin in this case — no rule exists how it should be
read, everone finds from there things important for him. For that
reason some of the actors play only tragical and romantical love plot,
and some actors interprete the comical and ironical scenes, some turn
attention to the literary commentaries but all of them together read
always the same novel, live always the same life on stage and
surprisingly reach the one conclusion: life is beautiful if we are able
to see its beauty.
